Online certification preparation courses are available to purchasers of Virginia Pesticide Applicator Training Manuals (see below for available category-specific courses). Pesticide Application Education. After reading and studying the manual, new applicants can schedule to take the exam at any VCE unit office. All pesticide applicators are required to pass the Virginia Core exam to receive certification. These manuals are approved for training by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The exam is then sent to VDACS Office of Pesticide Services, where it is graded.
